EBay lowers some fees, raises others
The changes come as longtime Chief Executive Meg Whitman announced she would retire at the end of March. Donahoe, president of eBay Marketplaces, which encompasses its shopping sites and classifieds, has said he will aggressively change eBay's product, customer approach and business model. Martin Pyykkonen, an analyst with Global Crown Capital, said eBay's rising fees have in the past caused sellers to look elsewhere on the Internet for places to practice the online skills they perfected at eBay, whether it's their own Web sites, Amazon, or other shopping sites. "The more savvy sellers look at a multitude of options. It's not like Amazon is taking market share from eBay in a big chunk, it's more of a gradual shift. This commission going up will be a telling point over the next months to see what kind of reactions it gets," Pyykkonen said.
Bollywood calling for Men in White
Mumbai: In India nothing sells better than the men in white flannels. So who is surprised that the Hindi film industry has been dangling mouth-watering offers to cricket's speed jets, Brett Lee and Shoaib Akhtar? Even the taciturn Gautam Gambhir has been cooed over by the showbiz industry for an astronomical amount. Some time last year it was reported that Anil Kumble was keen to associate himself with a Raj Kaushal banner that had cricket as its backdrop. Several Indian cricketers in the past flirted briefly with filmdom. After all Indians do not cease to make style icons and sex symbols of their visored heroes. Have a splendid first season and you are fast-tracked to the ad world. Come to think of it, cinema is a natural progression. It is not known to many that the charismatic Salim Durrani, who starred with Parveen Babi in B R Ishaara's Charitra, was the first choice to play the lead role in Sharmilee and Pakeezah.

Rail Transport 1991-2000
At a briefing in July, the head of the Main Administration of Internal Transport Affairs of the Russian Ministry of the Interior, Anatoly Romakhov, reported a sharp worsening of the crime situation in rail transport: rail transport accounted for 86% of the total number of transport thefts. In December, the Samara Regional Court sentenced Valentin Khazansky, director of Volzhtranstop, a Ministry of Railway Transport energy company, to three years conditionally with a one-year probation period for official forgery and abuse of official capacity. This was the first case involving a senior manager of an MRT structure to be brought to trial. 1994 In May, the government issued a resolution "On Indexation of Freight Rates and Charges for Cargo Handling Performed by Rail Transport of the Russian Federation in 1994", which granted the Russian Ministry of Railway Transport the right to revise and set freight rates and cargo handling charges independently.
Mizuno mixes it up
For years, Chuck Couch, Mizuno Golf's marketing director, heard the wistful refrain from ordinary golfers. I wish I was skilled enough to play those beautiful Mizuno blades. But these days, he's increasingly hearing a different tune. “I'll now run into someone in the airport, and they'll say, ‘I've got some MX-25 irons and I love them,' " says Couch, referring to the brand's game improvement franchise. What Mizuno is experiencing is a shift in consumer perception of its brand. And it's a pleasant surprise for the company, which has achieved success on its reputation as a better player's club but struggled to broaden its appeal. The irony is, Mizuno wasn't looking to reinvent itself when it launched the MX line in 2001.
