China's iPhone Fans Find a Way
Finding people selling iPhones in Chinese cities, in districts such as Beijing's Zhongguancun or in the big IT shopping centers in Shanghai, is a snap. Da Lin, a Beijing resident, got his first iPhone from Liu Yong just days after its U.S. debut and has since purchased "a dozen or so" for Chinese friends. Frank, a 30-year-old European businessman who lives in Shanghai and requested anonymity, says that he bought his iPhone about two months ago from an IT mall in the city. A self-described Apple "fanatic," he owns two iPods and two Macs. He says he had a tough time synching his iPhone with iTunes on his computer: "It took me six hours online to find the right way to do it," he says; but there's no beating the envious oohs and ahhs he gets when he shows it to friends. "Every time I go out for dinner and put it on the table, it's in everyone's hands," he says.
Bollywood calling
Many Bollywood films are now shot in Dubai. But there is something special about Jhoom that was shot here recently. Not only is the story of the film based in Dubai, but its lead actor was also raised in Dubai. Aziz did his schooling at St Martin's Grammar School, Dubai and claims that the acting bug bit him after he performed in a school play. Aziz went on to perform with a local band in Dubai and has won many dance contests here. Interestingly, in Jhoom he plays a dancer from Mumbai who comes to Dubai to participate in a major dance competition. Dream come true We caught up with Aziz and debutant director Shweta B Subhash while they were shooting by the banks of the creek in Bur Dubai. "Shooting a film in Dubai is a dream come true for me. Shweta originally planned to shoot it in London, but I convinced her to base the story in Dubai.
Mayor weighs stadium options
Seems we've crossed the three strikes threshold. Cheap loans were handed out for loft development and it seems no one is buying. For the most part, downtown properties are still owned by the same folks who controlled them when downtown died in the 70's. These owners have done nothing to improve their own lot (so to speak) in the nearly four decades since. They do not deserve a golden parachute. As for naming rights, Vectren and ONB already have new buildings with their names on them. What other companies here have the kind of jack it takes to buy into that? Besides, can you imagine the outrage if Vectren decided to spend $14 million on additional signage while raising rates even higher? Russ Lloyd's baseball stadium would now be in it's fourth year of operation, drawing nearly 250,000 visitors to downtown each spring and summer.
Alberta green plan puts PM 'on the spot'
I use, according to those calculators on the web, very little CO2, in fact I`m at the bottom end on most canadians. Its cause I`m a cheap a$$ SOB. I hate waste. Yet I hear from those who are better than me that my lifestyle is hurting theirs. Give me a break. I am in agrement with those who say the earth temp has not rose like the CPUs said they would. I could say its all a lie, but I am waiting for more proof. So far the end of the world looks very far away, unless you`re a seal. Posted 25/01/08 at 4:02 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment .

Ford Continues To Slap Down Enthusiast Calendars, Saying You Can't ...
Back in October, Ford got itself into some hot water over plenty of negative attention after it forced a Jaguar enthusiasts' group to stop selling calendars made up of photos of the cars they actually owned. You would have thought that the folks at Ford would have learned from the negative publicity surrounding that debacle. Apparently, they learned nothing, because they've now done the exact same thing to a Mustang enthusiasts' club, and it's getting even more attention than the last time around. What possible rationale does a lawyer give for suggesting slapping down an attempt by a car company's biggest fans (by their own admission!) to celebrate how much they love their vehicles by promoting them to others? Some may claim that you need to enforce your trademark or risk losing it -- but a situation like this is unlikely to be seen as something that needs to have been enforced.
