POOLE'S cabinet is expected to finally bury the Solar Pyramid plan when it meets tomorrow. The demise of the controversial scheme was announced on January 10 when council leader Cllr Brian Leverett declared the council was withdrawing from the privately-funded proposal. The concept for a giant tourist attraction in Poole town centre was popular with the tourism and the town centre management boards but raised a storm of protest from angry residents, whose Harbourside Park (Baiter) was the preferred site. .
Pyramid Saimira acquires UK-based Aurona Technologies
Mumbai, Jan 24 Entertainment firm Pyramid Saimira Theatre today said it has acquired UK-based Aurona Technologies for an undisclosed amount.
The company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange that it has acquired a majority stake in the video games and interactive entertainment software company and the new entity would be known as Pyramid Saimira Production Services Ltd.
"We are extremely happy to announce this strategic acquisition of Aurona Technologies Ltd. This marks the entry of Pyramid Saimira in the high-growth, high-margin animation and gaming industry," Pyramid Saimira Group Managing Director P S Saminathan said.
The group has access to a huge content library and would be able to cross-exploit the content properties. The acquisition brings not only the existing knowledge and customer base, but also high quality management bandwidth, with international exposure, he added.

Even though he paid the fine, the motorist's main concern seems to be the Oregon plates on the WSP car. My concern is that this man was doing 56 in a 35 mph zone. As a professional driving teacher and former driver's education teacher to teens, I believe this is just one more example of many adults' blatant disregard for speed limits, which are there for a reason. Instead of being upset with the WSP, I think that he should be thankful that nobody was hurt or injured by his reckless driving. Too many people across this country are hurt or killed by those who disregard the safety of others with their driving. Dennis set for GI Joe movie?
Dennis Quaid has enlisted for upcoming military movie GI Joe, it's been reported. The American actor - who is known for films like Flight Of The Phoenix, In Good Company and The Day After Tomorrow - will play a weathered Army general in the hotly anticipated flick, reports Variety. The trade mag says Dennis, 53, will be sharing the screen with British star Sienna Miller, 26, and She's The Man actor Channing Tatum, 27, who will play the lead soldier. Marlon Wayans, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Said Taghmaoui, Rachel Nichols and Ray Park are also said to be among the cast. The film will be produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Brian Goldner and Bob Ducsay and will be directed by Stephen Sommers. It is set to start shooting in Los Angeles next month and is expected to open in cinemas in the summer of 2009.

With an expected 140,000 people expected at this week's show, getting to and from different locations within the convention center has provided for an interesting logistical nightmare. Already I've missed two appointments, mainly because the bus driver taking me to the convention center got lost and ended up going in the opposite direction. I'd be willing to donate myself for experiments in teleportation if it meant I could get to the next appointment on time. .
